John is a Research Analyst and a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee. As an Analyst, John is responsible for researching and following investments in the Financials, Industrials, and Utilities sectors. John also serves on the firm’s Discovery, Performance & Attribution, Asset Allocation & Capital Market Assumptions, Brokerage & Trading, and Proxy & Corporate Actions Committees. John previously worked as an Investment Intern with Vigilant, and as a Research Intern with Prime, Buchholz & Associates, Inc. John earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of New Hampshire. During his time at UNH, John served as Portfolio Manager with the Atkins Investment Group, an entirely student-managed equity and fixed income portfolio. John holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. John lives in Portsmouth, NH and spends his free time reading, following sports, and enjoying the local seacoast.

James serves clients as a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst. Prior to joining Vigilant, James was a Senior Investment Consultant at NEPC. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Charted Alternative Investments Analyst designations. James earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Boston University. He lives in Portsmouth, NH and in his free time enjoys the outdoors, hiking, running, and skiing.

Chris serves clients as a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst. He serves as a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee. Prior to joining Vigilant, Chris was Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at Acadia Trust, N.A. As Managing Director, Chris provided leadership to the company regarding investment management, client relationships, and business development. Concurrently as Chief Investment Officer, Chris led the company’s investment and research process, investment committee meetings, and portfolio management process. He also managed portfolios for high-net-worth individuals, trust accounts, and non-profit endowment funds. Chris earned his MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BA in Economics from Swarthmore College. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Maine Chapter of the CFA® Institute. An avid runner, Chris has completed twenty-seven marathons and three Ironman triathlons. He lives in Scarborough, ME with his wife, Cari, their two boys Noah and Caleb, and their daughter, Harper.

Dan is a Principal and Founder and serves clients as a Portfolio Manager. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Investment Policy Committee. Prior to founding Vigilant, Dan was a Vice President in the Mergers & Strategic Advisory Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co in New York. He advised corporations on a broad range of financial and strategic transactions, including public equity and debt offerings, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and restructurings. Dan received an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BA in Economics from Boston College where he was Co-Captain of the golf team. Dan is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Golf Association. He was appointed to the national Schwab Advisor Services Advisory Board in 2017. He also previously served as chair of the board of the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire. Dan lives in Stratham, NH with his wife, Amy, and their daughters, Madeline and Eiley.

Scott is a Principal and Founder. He leads the firm’s Investment Policy Committee, is a member of the Executive Committee, and serves clients as a Portfolio Manager. Prior to founding Vigilant, Scott was a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Fleet Investment Advisors where he managed investment portfolios for high-net-worth families, non-profit organizations and institutional clients. Scott holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and the CFA® Institute. He holds the Chartered Financial Consultant® designation and is a member of the American College of Financial Planning. Scott earned a BS in Business Administration and Finance from the Paul College of Business & Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He lives in Greenland, NH with his wife Terry, their son, Kyle, and daughter, Jinae.

Hannah serves clients as a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst. She is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee and leads the firm’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) integration efforts. As an Analyst, Hannah is responsible for researching and following investments in the Consumer Discretionary and Real Estate sectors. Prior to joining Vigilant in 2018, Hannah was a Portfolio Manager at a Portland, ME based investment advisory firm. Hannah holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Maine and the CFA Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from The George Washington University. Hannah lives in Kennebunk, ME with her husband, Steve, and their two rescue dogs, Connor and George. She enjoys running, skiing, and playing golf in her free time.

Jean serves clients as a Portfolio Manager and she is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy Committee. Prior to joining Vigilant in 2011, Jean spent 18 years at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management in Boston. For 11 of those years, Jean served clients as a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager, working exclusively with high net worth individuals and families. Jean sits on the Board of Directors of Newburyport Bank, BILH – Anna Jacques Hospital, as well as the Newburyport Art Association where she serves as Board President. Jean is also a member of the Town of West Newbury Investment Policy Committee. Jean earned her MBA from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University and a BS in Finance with a minor in Political Science from Merrimack College. Jean lives in West Newbury, MA with her husband, Chris, their daughter, Sarah, their sons, Austin and Robert and their two dachshunds, Koenig and Olive. Jean enjoys running, hiking, reading and any activity involving the ocean and lakes of New England.

Sam is a Principal in the Firm and serves clients as a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst. He is a member of the Firm’s Investment Policy Committee and Chair of the Asset Allocation & Capital Market Assumptions and Proxy & Corporate Actions Committees. As an Analyst, Sam is responsible for researching and following investments in the Health Care and Consumer Staples sectors. Prior to joining Vigilant in 2015, Sam was an Investment Director at RS Investments. Sam holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Boston and the CFA Institute. Sam earned his BA in Economics from Colby College where he was captain of the Alpine Ski Team. Sam serves on the Board of Directors of the Seacoast Community School and New Hampshire Humanities and previously volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters. He lives in Portsmouth, NH with his wife Margaret, daughter Charlotte, twins Hayes and Eleanor, and yellow lab Winston. Sam spends his free time enjoying the outdoors, skiing, hiking, biking, golfing, boating, and surfing.
